About Us
"More than just a roof. Working with residents to create homes and communities that we can be proud of"
BCHF is a community based, housing association based in North Bristol.
Our aims
- For the communities where we provide homes to be popular places to live.
- To build and manage a mix of affordable housing across Bristol.
- For our residents to have real influence on how we deliver our services.
- To invest in creating successful neighbourhoods where people choose to live.
Background Information
Our Roots
BCHF was created in 1997 to redevelop a Bristol City Council (BCC) estate of more than 600 houses, creating nearly 1000 new homes in total.
BCHF formed a partnership with Bovis homes and BCC to create a mixture of housing association and privately-owned homes.
In order to finance the redevelopment the land was handed over by the City Council to BCHF. BCHF then sold half the land to a private development company; Bovis Homes, the income generated was then used to build the new social housing. The homes for rent and for sale are mixed together with very little to tell them apart.

Growing Up
The energy and innovation that helped create Upper Horfield has been harnessed to guide BCHF into a strong community based housing association. Developing new homes across the north of the City, we now have nearly 700 homes in management with a further 200 in our pipeline.
Our focus is on nurturing and developing the talent in our communities to help to create neighbourhoods where people choose to live.
