Current opportunities for tenants
BCHF is always interested to find out what tenants think of the services provided so that improvements can be made. Surveys are carried out regularly by post, by telephone and face to face in the form of focus groups.
All BCHF tenants are visited between four to six weeks after they have moved in by their housing officer to find out how they are settling in and to help resolve any problems. People leaving a property are asked to fill out an exit questionnaire so we can capture if there were any issues we need to know about. In the past, BCHF has carried out a programme of reviews of its services; reviews of Repairs, Anti-social Behaviour, Resident Involvement and Customer Care. Tenants were involved in focus groups to ensure their views were taken into account.
Below you can find out about the various opportunities available. If you require any further information or would like to have a chat about the opportunities that are available, please contact Kate Balloch on 0117 9319788.
Our priority is to engage and develop the capacity of all our tenants to ensure that BCHF and other local services are the best they can be. We believe that good services depend on having a strong tenant voice.
Tenants’ Committee
The Tenants’ Committee is made up of a number of tenants from the various areas where BCHF owns or manages properties. The Committee comments on policies and reports which will be taken to the Board of Management for approval, raises issues of importance to all tenants and takes information back. Committee members will work with a new network of street representatives to ensure there is regular communication with BCHF. Nominations for the Tenants' Committee are requested annually. Go to the Tenants' Committee page for more information.
Tenant Open Forums
Tenant Open Forums are a new addition to Resident Involvement, they comprise of a new way for tenants to feed back in an informal setting. Taking place quarterly, each event is planned alongside Tenant Facilitators and Tenants’ Committee members who agree the agenda so that it is relevant and meaningful to tenants who come along. Notes from the last Open Forum held in October 2011 can be found here.
Tenant Facilitators
Tenant Facilitators work alongside the Tenants’ Committee in planning each Tenant Open Forum. Tenant facilitators have been trained and are highly skilled in the areas of both the preparation and hosting of events and look to make each event both meaningful and fun for tenants to get involved.
Special Interest Groups
Special interest groups are made up of tenants with a particular interest in an area of service. BCHF currently operate three special interest groups, which are the Readers Panel, the Customer Service Panel (previously known as the Tenants’ Scrutiny Panel) and the Repairs Panel. Whilst the Readers Panel regularly meet on a quarterly for two hours (often with meetings in-between), The Customer Service Panel and Repairs Panel meet as and when a significant issue arises. Views and opinions are taken seriously within these groups and the service that BCHF offers, changes as a result of this level of involvement.
Street Representatives
Any BCHF resident can elect to become a Street Rep to help inform us and partners about any cleanliness or safety issues they find in their area. We hold monthly meetings at our office for those who want to and are able to attend and we conduct walkabouts in areas where Street Reps are active.
If you are interested in becoming a Street Rep to represent a street or block where BCHF has developments, please download and return the form below. You can contact Scott for help or further information on 0117 9319776 or email .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address). If you are a member of the Facebook website community, you can also find us by searching for 'Pride of Place Action Group'.
Please remember that getting involved should only ever cost your time and not leave you out of pocket. BCHF offers to pay any mileage, taxi/bus fares and childcare costs that you may incur as a result of getting involved. If you have any questions or would simply like to find out more about Resident Involvement, please call Kate Balloch on 0117 9319788.
