Opportunities for tenants

The Foundation tries to find out what tenants think of the services provided so that improvements can be made.  Surveys are carried out regularly by post, by telephone and face to face to find out tenants’ views.  Tenants are visited four to six weeks after they have moved in by their housing officer to find out how they are settling in and to help resolve any problems.  People leaving the area are asked to fill out an exit questionnaire.  The Foundation is carrying out a programme of reviews of its services; reviews of the Repairs and Anti-social Behaviour service have been completed and tenants involved through focus groups to ensure that their views are taken into account.

In the summer of 2007, a new Tenants’ Committee was formed which replaced the Interim Committee and the original Tenants’ Panel.  The Committee is made up of a number of tenants from the various areas where the Foundation owns or manages properties.  The Committee comments on policies and reports which will be taken to the Board of Management for approval, raises issues of importance to all tenants and takes information back.  Committee members will work with the network of street contacts that are being set up to ensure there is regular communication with BCHF.

BCHF is involved in a number of other initiatives involving residents of all tenures to help residents live in a place that they can feel proud of, where they feel secure and are able to enjoy being in their home.
